Role Summary/Purpose

The EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Manager for Onshore Wind Germany Services will provide leadership and direction in all EHS issues. You will develop and implement EHS programs and plans in line with applicable laws and permits. You will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs and processes. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and impact short and long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and drive EHS excellence
  • Sponsor and link EHS initiatives to business strategy and drive change in line with company’s long-term strategic business plan
  • Synergize efforts with affiliates and operation leaders to drive consistency and increase overall support function efficiency
  • Lead and cultivate an exceptional EHS culture within the business, including advocating to customers, groups & associations, regulatory agencies and general industries
  • Support customer EHS inquiries and discussions as they are related to the conduct of GE activities
  • Work with operations management to ensure effective implementation of EHS processes and systems, using GE EHS Plans, management framework and scorecard systems
  • Provide EHS support for Wind Service teams at customer sites
  • Conduct EHS Audits of Services activities at customer sites
  • Develop, conduct and coordinate required EHS training
  • Conduct Accident Investigations to determine root cause analysis and proactive solutions
  • Use of management and reporting systems like SGS or Gensuite


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related EHS field; alternatively professional qualification/apprenticeship with significant experience in EHS
  • Demonstrated professional experience and deep domain expertise in Environment, Health & Safety
  • Fluent English and German language skills; additional European language is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Desired Characteristics

  • Relevant Germany specific formal EHS qualification(s) - for example "Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit"
  • Knowledge and experience with Germany specific EHS requirements
  • Working knowledge of Wind Turbine Mechanical and Electrical Systems
  • Strong Leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Initiative and a global mindset
  • Excellent computer skills for use of digital tools
