The role

Working with our Renewables Director, you will have two main roles: 1) to lead our Business Development activity in Spain to enable us to deliver on our growth plans; 2) to grow a renewables team in Spain.

As a talented and trusted advisor in the industry, you will be well equipped in promoting, winning and delivering technical advisory services Renewable Energy consultancy projects in Spain. As Renewables team leader, you will be skilled in managing multiple responsibilities including operations management, commercial expertise, and business development. You will take a lead role in efficient project delivery, people development, and client engagement throughout the Spanish Renewable Energy community.

Key responsibilities

Business Development

  • Developing and agreeing a specific and executable Business Plan for Spain with targets;
  • Meeting and developing relationships with existing and prospective clients including banks, equity funds and developers, in Spain and internationally;
  • Identifying other potential clients and initiating contacts, in close coordination with local RINA offices;
  • Ensuring that RINA is shortlisted and invited for upcoming opportunities;
  • Preparing and executing a local marketing plan, including region specific collateral and attendance at conferences etc.;
  • Coordinating closely with other RINA offices in the EMEA region to leverage existing local capability knowledge and networks. Jointly developing country specific strategies;
  • Developing local partners in the region with supporting services or market representation beyond the RINA network;
  • Preparing and submitting costed, accurate and attractive proposals;
  • Negotiating and closing assignments with appropriate commercial terms;
  • Liaising with and supporting Business Development activities in the wider RINA group.

Technical Governance

  • Maintain oversight of proposal process; bid/no-bid, commercial, legal, approvals etc.;
  • Ensure all our bids are of a high quality and well received;
  • Managing and contributing to the delivery of engineering and technical advisory services including communication with clients, coordination of resources, management of time and budget, preparation of clear and accurate reports and deliverables;
  • Ensuring client satisfaction and relationship building;
  • Specific input according to individual technical specialisation and experience;
  • Face to face meetings and presentations with clients and other parties;
  • Site visits and other in country activities;
  • Managing a network of local partners and subconsultants to assist in delivery;
  • Coordination of resources and support from the broader RINA group;
  • Ensure project deliverables are produced to a high standard and are efficiently prepared.

Staff Competency and Training

  • Identification of collective and individual competency;
  • Perform gap analysis and prepare means of filling any gaps as appropriate;
  • Support and mentor staff to enable them to achieve their full potential.

Accreditation and Committee Membership

  • Ensure RINA is accredited with the appropriate bodies to support its consultancy ambitions;
  • Establish representation with suitable engineering institutions and committees.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Energy Systems or similar discipline;
  • Consultancy experience or Lenders TA, Construction Monitoring or Owner’s Engineering experience;
  • Extensive experience in the solar, wind and energy storage sectors;
  • Related technologies experience e.g. distribution & transmission systems, rooftop systems, off-grid PV, mini grids, battery storage etc.;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business and teams;
  • Extensive team and technical leadership experience;
  • Travel flexibility to visit Spanish and international clients;
  • Degree or better in engineering or other scientific subject;
  • Experience as a consultant for renewable energy projects;
  • Confidence and knowledge to communicate and appreciate client needs across the range of technologies (solar, wind, energy storage, grid and environmental);
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English;
  • Ability to present positively in a variety of contexts and cultures.
