Join us and become Environment & Consents Senior Specialist in our Strategic Environment Team where you’ll work in a unique and challenging job where you have every opportunity to develop your skills, when you work on some of the world's largest offshore wind projects in a variety of Markets. The Strategic Environment Team is responsible for providing a consistent approach to key stakeholders within each of our markets on the key consenting risks.

Your key tasks will be to

  • support the Head of Strategic Environment on portfolio issues and stakeholder management as a strategic resource across projects in the UK and other markets;
  • share and collaborate on data/knowledge on consenting/permitting risks across projects and markets, and to input and work with early-stage sites across all markets to flag initial risks, identify show-stoppers and provide general strategic consenting and permitting advice to manage those risks;
  • liaise, support and provide input on consenting, permitting and relevant stakeholder matters to other key areas of the business such as Legal, Communications and Branding, and to ensure that information and updates are fed back into the Environment & Consents (E&C) teams in the UK, Europe, US and APAC as well as working with the Group’s Research & Development team to manage future risks and identify and manage consent/permitting risks;
  • lead in the identification of environmental management key risk areas, guide projects to resolve issues, provide strategic advice across the portfolio, communicate and update our key positions and develop E&C relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • perform horizon scanning for consenting and permitting issues/challenges and maintain awareness of, review, summarise and catalogue key scientific papers, research documents, published articles and briefing materials as well as advising on potential implications for the Group and providing regular updates to the E&C teams/projects/senior management on progress/awareness items.

Furthermore, you’ll use your leadership skills to educate and lead a virtual group of specialists within the E&C teams. You’ll also be required to maintain the Company’s external position as a world-leading developer in external strategy groups on key project risks and ensure management of key stakeholders relating to these risks, as well as responding to consultations related to planning and consenting in the UK. You’ll be a key part of the external strategic stakeholder management for consents and permitting, and you should have key knowledge of offshore wind consenting risks in the UK market. Other tasks include the use of tools within our corporate software systems and maintenance of project environmental records and procedures.

Your competences include that you

  • have a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in environmental science, management, planning, law or geography;
  • are familiar with the planning, licensing and consenting regime relevant for offshore wind in the UK; having knowledge of the regimes in one (or more) of the following markets would be an advantage: EU, US, Taiwan;
  • are experienced in communication, coordination and delivery of environmental work by multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams;
  • can work alongside and coordinate a number of technical engineering specialists, senior management and project managers;
  • have postgraduate experience in offshore wind in a consenting/permitting role.

Moreover, you preferably have experience of working closely with relevant authorities, regulatory agencies, legal advisors and other relevant internal and external stakeholders in the Group’s markets. In addition, you’re passionate about stakeholder engagement at a strategic level and have an interest in seeking to expand your knowledge of consenting and permitting regimes in new markets.
