To support Equinor's ambitions within offshore wind developments it is desirable to strengthen our Wind Energy Technology (WET) team with additional capacities in Wind Resource Assessment.

Wind Energy Technology (WET) is part of New Energy Solutions Business Area and is one of three technology departments within "Wind & Low Carbon Development". The department has responsibility for Wind Resource Assessment, Metocean, Geotechnics and Mapping.

We want you to have the courage to push technology boundaries, be innovative and to create competitive solutions for Equinor’s offshore wind development projects and to optimize production from our operating assets.

The successful candidate will undertake the role as Wind Assessment responsible on offshore wind business development projects, contribute to technology development and continuous improvements.

Job Description

Responsible for wind park resource assessment, park layout design and production estimates

  • Establish basis for economical evaluation for wind projects;
  • Collection and analysis of data from wind measurement and/or wind modelling;
  • Advise on analysis methodology and assumptions;
  • Lead programs to develop and evaluate methods to improve siting and optimization tools;
  • Explore and develop digital solutions for wind farm optimization;
  • Apply optimal application of technology and implement lessons learned on a continuous basis;
  • Proactively implement trends and new ideas into our internal processes in collaboration with the WRA team;
  • Ensure quality through utilization of own professional network and compliance with relevant governing documents;
  • Coordination with Equinor’s R&D environment for technology development;
  • Participation and Equinor representation in industry projects and external arenas;
  • Building strong relationships and aliasing with internal and external key stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

  • Technical background in meteorology, wind energy, or power production technology;
  • Background in statistical modelling or mathematical modelling with strong statistical skills is preferable;
  • Experience from or capability in understanding meteorology and meteorological models;
  • Experience with or ability to understand the power production market;
  • Experience with or ability to understand economic analysis;
  • Experience with or ability to understand GIS-tools;
  • Project development experience is an advantage;
  • Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications.

  • Strong motivation for Renewable Energy;

  • Master's Degree.
