The Strategic Market Analysis Team is the unit that is responsible for Statkraft’s long-term view of the development of power markets within which it operates. This includes developing a long-term view of power prices and high-quality insights to support business strategy and commercial processes. The Strategic Market Analysis Team is divided into three regional areas: Nordics, Europe, and Emerging Markets. We are recruiting for a Senior Analyst to focus on Emerging Markets.

Your role:

The purpose of this role is to lead long-term power market analysis (qualitative and quantitative) in a specific geography and/or issue. This includes:

  • Closely monitoring and researching the development of power markets and how they are likely to evolve in the long term, including creating and maintaining an up to date set of market assumptions;
  • Undertaking power market modelling, interpreting results and drawing out trends and strategic implications. Present outcomes of these analyses to internal decision makers and leaders;
  • Contributing to internal strategy and commercial decision-making processes (valuation, impairment, strategy processes) relevant to the specific market;
  • Upgrading and developing current analytical methods and models across geographies;
  • Leading power market analysis improvement projects;
  • The position reports to Head of the Emerging Markets Team.

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in economics, mathematics, engineering or similar with strong academic results;
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant working experience with power market analysis;
  • Power market modelling capability in SDDP or similar tools;
  • Coding skills (Python or similar):
    • Able to use and develop qualitative and quantitative methods/tools to analyse complex data and markets to identify trends and strategic implications;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including slide production and written memoranda. In addition, Spanish language skills is desirable;
    • Experience with project management will be advantageous;
    • Self-driven, creative, motivated and positive team player.

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation.
