Purpose

  • To assure the Operator Supervision Role during Mechanical and Piping installation within the defined cost, scope and schedule;
  • To monitor and assure the integration and commissioning of the activities between ITER Organization contractors and Domestic Agencies’ (DAs) contractors in full integration with Construction Management Agent (CMA);
  • To develop the right strategy to optimize the installation sequence;
  • To be the Operator of mechanical systems for the defined scope of work.

Please note that an organizational restructuring is planned in accordance with the needs of the organization and the evolution of the project phases. In this context, the unit of assignment of the present position may be updated in late 2019, early 2020.

Main duties/Responsibilities

  • Is the technical interface between the Construction Management Agent (CMA) and the IO Engineering departments, in his/her area of responsibility;
  • Leads the review process of any Installation Procedures, Inspection & Test Plans and the installation testing issued by the Contractor in his/ her area of responsibility;
  • Issues inspection, observation and other regular progress reports when and where required;
  • Assures consistency among the mechanical and piping systems in his/her area of responsibility in installation phase and the engineering work packages issued by Engineering Departments;
  • Follows and contributes to the resolution of the field engineering changes and installation non-conformance related to his/her area of responsibility;
  • Assists during testing and commissioning of components that are installed under her/his responsibilities, anticipates problems and alerts line management when necessary;
  • Develops and implements the installation sequence and schedules related to the installation of all ITER mechanical & piping system in his/her area of competencies;
  • Is in charge to manage interfaces and coordinate the commissioning of mechanical sub-systems and systems;
  • Monitors the maintenance of the system following installation completion;
  • May be requested to work in shifts, outside ITER Organization reference working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays;
  • Implements the technical control of the Protection Important Activities, as well as their propagation to the entire supply chain;
  • May be requested to be part of any of the project/construction teams and to perform other duties in support of the project schedule.

Measures of effectiveness

  • Timely and accurate reporting on the status of the fabrication and installation;
  • Assures the completion of the installation of mechanical components, ensuring a proper implementation of safety requirements and QA/QC requirement;
  • Manages the handover of Engineering Work Packages (EWP) to CMA;
  • Ensures the efficient execution of actions related to construction for his/her scope of activities, within the defined cost, scope and schedule;
  • Manages effectively the interfaces associated with his/her scope of activities.

Level of study

  • Master or equivalent degree.

Diploma

  • Mechanical Engineering.

Level of experience

  • At least 5 years.

Technical experience/knowledge

  • At least 5 years of experience in construction, installation and testing of mechanical components and large piping systems for oil and gas or nuclear plants industries;
  • Knowledge of piping fabrication and installation procedures as well as welding techniques, testing and NDT techniques;
  • Knowledge of piping supporting systems technologies, steel structures construction as well as fixation systems for nuclear plants;
  • Experience in field installation supervision of plant static equipment, like pressure vessels and heat exchangers as well as plant rotating components (pumps and compressors);
  • Basic knowledge of large capacity Cooling Towers and open cooling circuits;
  • Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Directive for piping systems and other pressure equipment applicable during installation and testing;

Project experience

  • At least 5 years.

General skills

  • Good knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures for the installation, commissioning and operation of mechanical components and piping systems, including safety relevant components;

  • Communicate Effectively: Ability to adjust communication content and style to deliver messages to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment;

Others

  • Knowledge of 3D CAD plant software (AVEVA and Catia or Smartplant) is advantageous
  • Knowledge of MS Office standard (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
