Design & enhancement of wind turbine control systems, coordinating with teams within Renewable engineering and Services on product needs;
Responsible for requirements flow down leading to design, implementation and validation of control systems. The broad scope of responsibility provides an opportunity to optimize turbine and sub-system operation.
Development and enhancement of wind turbine controls technologies, covering functional requirements definition, flow down, preliminary design development and documentation;
As part of the broader control system design, interface with the turbine controls team to incorporate operability requirements into the controller design;
Investigate controls issues, participate in identifying and implementing improvements in control strategies;
As a member of the controls team, participate in conceptual, detailed design, implementation and validation of the controls features;
Contribute to the definition and documentation of turbine operation modes and constraints. This includes creating the foundation on which controls architecture and approach can be modified to meet goals of improved performance and reliability;
Interface with simulations team and incorporate wind turbine and wind farm operability requirements into the design, as part of control system design.
Master’s Degree in Control Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited College or University or equivalent knowledge or experience;
Experience in design and/or modeling of controls systems;
Experience with new controls algorithm development, implementation and validation techniques: Software in the Loop (SIL), Hardware in the Loop (HIL);
Knowledge of controls related sensors and actuators;
Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment;
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Fluent in English (spoken and written);
Effective problem identification and solution skills;
Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energy;
Willingness to travel occasionally;
EU Work Permit.
Experience with real time controls design or modeling;
Proficient in Matlab/Simulink for the design and validation of controls systems;
Experience with GE’s Mark VIe or similar PLC’s;
Experience in wind industry with a focus on plant controls systems;
Familiarity and practical experience with agile methodologies;
