Responsabilities:

As a Hybrid Power Plant Protection Engineer, you will be part of the Power Plant Electrical Infrastructure team and your main responsibility will be development of innovative design and technologies for Vestas Power Plants protection systems. Your responsibility will include:

  • Responsible for designing protection systems for Vestas Hybrid Power Plants;
  • Participate in planning and designing Power Plant Electrical Infrastructure (PPEI) systems for optimal Vestas Hybrid Power Plants in respect of standardization, minimal losses and Bill of Material (BoM) costs;
  • Responsible for developing standard Vestas protection systems guidelines, inclusive of requirement specifications and design descriptions based on selected generic Vestas Hybrid Power Plants;
  • Responsible for receiving and handling special protection systems design requests from Vestas regional business units;
  • Deliver protection systems related inputs for Vestas development of standard Technical Procurement Specifications (TPS) for all PPEI main components such as Medium Voltage (MV) cables, switchgear, transformers, power circuit breakers, surge arresters, shunt reactors/capacitors, STATCOMs, etc.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (High Voltage or Power Systems Engineer);
  • Minimum of +5 years of professional experience mainly within power systems protection systems;
  • You have a proven track record in planning and designing protection systems for combined power plants;
  • Detailed knowledge of major power plant protection and relay coordination;
  • You have general knowledge of major power plant components for electrical BoP such as transformers, cables, switchgear, power circuit breakers, surge arresters, shunt reactors, shunt capacitors, STATCOMs;
  • You have general knowledge of electrical integration of renewable power generation in the power grid;
  • You have the desire and the ability to understand and maintain overview of a wide range of advanced technical domains within power grid integration of renewable power plants like main circuit design, protection systems and electrical BoP equipment;
  • User knowledge of power system steady state relay coordination software package in PowerFactory;
  • You may have worked with Grid operators, Power generators, Utilities, Grid consulting companies, Transmission- or Distribution companies etc.
