Essential Responsibilities:

The Senior Electronics Design Engineer is expected to provide technical leadership across projects and teams within the field of Electronics HW. It is also expected that the position holder identifies and implements solutions as an integral part of the R&D team. Failure analysis relating HW and ESW interactions is also a task to which the holder of this position is expected to contribute or lead. The person is an active and engaged contributor in a team of engineers committed to deliver results in order to meet business goals.

The Senior Electronics Design Engineer support development of new products as well as operational maintenance of existing products- and production lines. This role requires subsea electronics requirement’s knowledge for creating innovative and industry leading pressure and temperature sensing products for the oil & gas industry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Sensor Electronics Design Engineer will utilize experience, expertise, analytic thinking and systematic work to solve problems and execute plan in team with other engineers.

  • Design, customize, maintain and improve products, documents and processes;
  • Perform work according to:
    • Government rules and regulations;
    • Technical standards and regulations;
    • Business procedures, processes and practices.
  • Provide timely communications with the rest of the organization on status of tasks and projects;
  • Participate in solving and/or leading quality related issues according to business procedures for handling non-conformances;
  • Participate in teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues;
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical reviews with engineering team, sharing information, insight and knowledge;
  • Establish proper documentation of work performed as well as performing well information hand-over within the organization and team;
  • Familiarize with business goals and objectives and adjust own initiative and focus to resolve critical issues for the business;
  • Perform GE’s Performance Development and create individual development plan together with Manager. Follow through on agreed plan and actively contribute to own development;
  • Customer contact can be expected – technical clarifications and meetings;
  • Support, mentor and train junior staff.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor or MSc degree in Electronics;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with use of computer tools for design and layout of electronics boards;
  • Experience with product design according to subsea oil & gas technical regulations and standards;
  • Experience with standards for Environmental Stress Screening of electronics, including establishing procedures, processes and equipment for performing ESS;
  • Experience with qualification of products according to EMC and CE standards;
  • Experience with electronics design according to SIL standard;
  • Experience with handling quality issues and performing root cause analysis;
  • Experience with creating procedures, processes and equipment for testing and calibration of sensors;
  • Ability to progress and solve tasks that do not yet have an established path to solution (contribute to find possible ways as well as executing established ways to solution);
  • Ability to work in team with other engineers, gather information, share knowledge, include and utilize team as well as supporting organizational development.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to perform in team, with tight deadlines and pressure;
  • Ability to understand business goals, adjust initiative accordingly and inform/enable organization on status of critical projects;
  • Solid oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience with design of instruments, pressure equipment or similar;
  • Experience with FPGAs;
  • Ability to interface successfully with all levels of the organization;
  • Judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers;
  • Proactive with flexible attitude.
