Our Industrial Gases group delivers a wide range of highly specialised solutions and equipment to customers in a variety of industries. This group of specialist Engineers provides safe, reliable and cost-effective customer application equipment/systems in support of the Industrial Gases Europe business across the following segments:

  • Food and Industrial Cryogenics;
  • Metals, Glass, Minerals and Energy (MGME);
  • Environmental (Water treatment).

An internal promotion has created an outstanding opportunity for an Application Equipment Manager to join our European business team. The position to be based in one of our European locations. The role is to manage the applications equipment team and to ensure all manufactured equipment meets legislative, regulatory and internal Air Products specifications and safety standards. The job holder will also act as the design owner for equipment for CE marking purposes and manage availability and condition of ‘second-hand’ application equipment. Travel within Europe will be required.

The main tasks and responsibilities will cover several key areas

Application Equipment Design and Manufacture

To act as Technical Authority/Subject Matter Expert (directly or via reports) controlling the design, manufacture/refurbishment and management of change of applications enabling equipment specific to all Food & Industrial Cryo, Metals & Glass, and Environmental customers.

Design Ownership/Legal & Corporate Compliance

To act as Regional Design Owner for applications equipment manufactured by Air Products and Competent Person empowered to apply CE marking for use in Europe (including Technical Files and CE Declarations of Conformity).

Application Equipment Installation Projects

To manage via reports European Metal & Glass installation projects, including Development of proposals and cost estimates, execution of projects/cost management on time within budget, supervision of installation and commissioning.

Resource/Asset Management

To manage the Applications Equipment engineering team including contracted labour prioritising and allocating resource to meet the demands of internal and external customers. Manage the refurbishment programs for application equipment pool assets

Safety, Quality, KPIs

To ensure excellent safety, health and environmental performance within the projects area of customer engineering through proactive leadership and commitment to the department’s safety principles.

What we’re looking for

  • An uncompromising approach to safety in all aspects of the organisation;
  • Relevant Engineering degree underpinned with significant background and experience in technology and industrial cryogenics;
  • In depth knowledge of the industry/legal requirements; EU Directives, EN standards etc (sufficient to be recognised as Air Products’ European Subject Matter Expert and ‘Competent Person’);
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English across all levels. Another spoken language would be an advantage;
  • Project and People Management Experience;
  • The ability to troubleshoot and make good and timely decisions in a pressurised situation;
  • Flexibility in terms of changing priorities, workload and working hours;
  • Full Driving License.
