Primary responsibility of the Spain Gas Originator is to generate value and optimize BPGE wholesale position in the spot and medium term PVB and Spanish LNG market, ensuring the optimisation of the Gas Spain supply and capacity portfolio together with the LNG and EGP central trading teams.
Involves significant amount of relationship with external gas market counterparties as well as internal day by day relationship with the LNG, Gas Trading and Origination benches in London.
Close link with the IG central functions involved in deal execution such as Operational Excellence, Commodity, Credit, Compliance and Legal is key for the success of the role and to ensure appropriate processes and policies are applied.
Responsible to update and assess market information to support the supply and wholesale activities, including forward curve comparison, market pricing and analysis of pricing structures.
Negotiate Master Agreements and contracts with counterparts and for managing these contracts and the deals related once closed.
Monitor exposure model and implementation of the Asset Optimisation book as part of the Regional Office Framework.
Understand business price expo and suggest and execute hedging structures (Brent, TTF, NBP) when appropriate together with risk management support on the FX expo.
Provide hedging services to the industrial customers.
Reports directly to Gas Spain Origination and Asset Optimisation Manager.
Works closely with Spanish C&I Sales and the Operations teams, seeking Legal and Tax guidance from the functions in Madrid and from the Credit, LNG and Gas Trading teams in London.
Spot and originate opportunities to execute sale to maximise the value of the Supply portfolio including BBE volumes.
Enable global deals with BPGM LNG, making possible the Spanish leg and maximising its value
Secure spot and medium-term sales to balance the length of the book and be able to capture lower price purchase opportunities.
Structure and execute financial hedges to provide a rounded service to industrial customers.
Follow the French Market closely to spot opportunities to flow gas from France to Spain or the reverse.
Closely liaise with Operations manager to enable and leverage origination deals through optimised use of capacity.
Monitor price risk, regularly review and update with supply Manager.
Interface with Commodity Risk to provide more pricing possibilities to the marketing sales team.
Essential criteria & qualifications:
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in Supply and or Origination roles in Spanish and international NG and LNG markets.
Educated to University degree.
